An open discussion where we share our journeys to the ‘Artist’s Authentic Voice’.
A large portion of this will be an open discussion where we share our journeys to the ‘Artist’s Authentic Voice’.
I will supply three examples of my own writing to give participants an idea of how I’ve tapped into my own authentic voice as a writer.
I would then ask each participant to write an essay (up to five pages) answering all or some of these questions for yourself…
What is my artist’s authentic voice?
If you feel like maybe you don’t have one: What would you like that authentic artist’s voice to be?
What, if anything, in my past as an arttist has prevented my from finding my artist’s authentic voice?
What would it look like if I found and cultivated that voice? How would it affect the art I create?
If your Authentic Artist’s Voice had a mission statement, what would that be?
Share examples of artists (of any discipline) who you admire for using their ‘Authentic Artist’s Voice’ in their own artistic practice. What is it about their ‘Authentic Artistic Voice’ do you admire?
I will ask if there is anyone willing to share their writing with the group (only if you feel comfortable) followed by a round table discussion that encourages participants to support one another in speaking to the ‘Artist’s Authentic Voice’ within.
