Calling all performer-creators! This performance lab will focus on the relationship between writing and movement for creating devised work. We will inquire into the reciprocity between these two forms and explore translating them back and forth as means of devising. We will play with deepening your own creative process, and uncovering performative material unique to your voice.
Nicole Schafenacker is an interdisciplinary artist and arts-researcher. Her most recent performance-creation work is entitled Ecologies of Intimacy, an installation with performance elements shown in diverse settings including a northern hospital, an art gallery and soon to be shown in a cabin in Whitehorse through the Jenni House residency with the Yukon Arts Centre. She is interested in the intersection between art-making and activism and creating this work in northern settings. Nicole has shared her interdisciplinary work, min wiconi/water is life, at Expanse Movement Arts Festival (2019) as a part of the Chinook Series. As a playwright, her most recent production was 13 Encounters at the Bottom of the Sea featured as part of the Fringe Theatre Spotlight Series (2019).
