Opening Note: I’m really into the idea of practice. The idea that what we do is a forever practice. So prepare for the word practitioner. This word somehow seems so serious. Much more serious than the word practice, which I’m loving because it’s just so simple and unfussy. If the word practitioner distances you from this outline just swap in another word – like dancer, actor, interested person who wants to move around etc. etc.
What: This (fun and sweaty) class will explore freedom and form. Practitioners will engage with various movement based propositions, both open (improvisations that allow tons of personal freedom) and tightly structured (strict and choreographed exercises). Please come in bare feet and clothes that you can move and sweat in. There will be some vigorous exercise but practitioners are always invited to practice at their own pace. **If you have freezing cold feet and magic, non-slip socks, go for it. You know what you need.
Focus: To bring the practitioner into their bodies through the exploration of free and structured forms. To practice and explore ways of developing personal freedom in very tight structure and form in very free, open structure. The ultimate goal being to activate and enliven the practitioner’s own unique, physical point of view.
