WHERE: in the Citadel Theatre‘s Shoctor rehearsal hall. Please enter via the Foote Theatre School doors at the south side of the building. Doors will be open by 10:45 a.m.

This fun, safe and informative session is about utilizing your Whole Self; body, mind, breath, voice and imagination. Our goal is open, honest, vulnerable communication. Whether your modes of communication include voice, body, paintbrush, dance or quill, this workshop aims at improving confidence, increasing flow, and promoting joy. We will make use of restorative yoga, breath therapy, transformative vocal entrainment, support system pedagogy, empowerment & confidence cultivation, core awakening principles, somatic movemenet and creative flow work. Please wear comfortable, loose, stretchy clothing and bring water and a yoga mat if you have one. Participants are invited (completely optional) to bring a favourite speech, monologue, dance piece, song or poem with which to work.
Bio for David Wilson:
David Wilson (BMus, Mmus) is a Singer, Conductor, Voice Teacher, Yoga Instructor and Breath Therapist. He is recognized across Canada as a leading authority on the use of Yoga, Empowered Movement, Functional Vocal Work and Breath Therapy to aid healthy singing, speaking, actinand dancing. He is the founder and former Artistic Director of Calgary’s Spiritus Chamber Choir and Performing Arts Ensemble, with whom he won an International “Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award” for their first CD, “Crossing Bridges”. David holds positions with Cowtown Opera Summer Academy, Edmonton Musical Theatre, the University of Alberta, and the Theatre Arts program at MacEwan University. He offers workshops to singers, actors, teachers, dancers and professionals on vocal power, emotional and creative freedom, anxiety relief, respiratory health, core stability, somatic movement and public speaking. Recent performances include the musical directorship of RENT, as Cinderella’s Prince in “Into the Woods”, and as a baritone in numerous University of Alberta performances. His DVD/Book set, “The Wilson Method for Voice” will be released in 2018.
