Stacey’s unique contemporary aesthetic has been influenced by a number of master teachers, both local and international. Her style has emerged out of her own personal movement practice and encompasses an amalgamation of various forms of modern and contemporary dance, Contact Improvisation, yoga, and Somatic exploration. Her classes focus on the use of skeletal and muscular alignment and how these systems work together to create dynamic physical expression. Her choreographic exercises move both horizontally and vertically, via weighted pathways in and out of the floor, with special attention on the directionality of energy. She is interested in the progressive functions that guide the body with ease and joy, while encouraging a strong sense of musicality and spatial awareness —allowing for full three-dimensional dancing. It is her goal to foster each student’s individual needs, and assist them in deepening their own artistic practices.
