Join us for an awesome Stage Combat workshop with one of the Azimuth Theatre Co-Producers’ Morgan Yamada!
In this class, you’ll learn or brush up on the essential skills of stage combat, like falls, punches, and slaps. And don’t worry, we’ll always prioritize your physical safety and well-being so you can perform like a pro, show after show.
Morgan will guide you through the basics of choreography and show you how to tell a story through movement. It’s a fun and collaborative lab where you can meet and interact with other cool people, regardless of your experience level.
Just wear comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle, and you’re all set.

About Your Lab Instructor
Morgan Yamada (she/her)
Morgan works as an actor, fight director, arts educator, creative collaborator and Co-Artistic Producer of Azimuth Theatre. She graduated from the University of Alberta’s BFA Acting Program and completed her Advanced Actor Combatant certification with Fight Directors Canada.
She has worked extensively as an arts educator in various capacities, supporting young artists through Trickster Theatre, Concrete Theatre, Jube School and the Citadel Theatre’s Young Company programs. She has also worked with high schools, universities and professional theatres, teaching workshops and courses alongside choreographing violence for productions.
Morgan has worked at theatres nationwide and has been a member of award-winning ensembles. She has workshopped new plays and theatrical work, and collaborating on new work has taught her how theatre can explore the past, reflect the present and dream of the future.
Recent credits include Fight Director for Cinderella (AMTC), Deathtrap (Teatro Live), Prison Dancer, Jersey Boys, Clue, and 9 to 5 (Citadel Theatre). Actor – Glory (Chemainus Theatre Festival, National Tour & Original Cast), Pride and Prejudice, Delay – The Horizon Lab, Peter and The Starcatcher (Citadel Theatre)
