By Steve Pirot, with music by Lane Arndt, 2008
Su-Kat was written for two actors with multiple characters and fluid transitions and a story that wove a waking reality with a dreaming reality. The show featured Steve Pirot and Kirsten Rasmussen as actors, direction by Murray Utas, and Lane Arndt as a live musician and sound designer.
The production also featured Andrew G. Smith as technician to help facilitate the addition of a unique video design. Eschewing a projection unit this production’s video component was delivered on a flat screen HD television unit that was mounted on the rear wall.
The video design was based on character illustrations of a cartoon cat and platypus by Mark Jenkins that were then rendered and animated in 3-D by Matthew Schuurman.
