Woody

By Kristi Hansen, 2012

Presentation at The Edmonton Fringe Festival at the New City, Woody is a one-woman, multi-character, autobiographical play that takes the audience through a journey that begins at birth with a congenital disability, leads to amputation, and carries on to a fruitful and ‘normal’ life.

The play explores the term “disabled”, and explore the consequences of hiding what makes one different versus consciously celebrating it.

Using a combination of documentary footage from her childhood and transformative performance in which Kristi recreates key personalities in her journey, Woody is a quick moving flowing narrative built around the three major operations that Kristi underwent in her childhood.
