2. Learn about the 7 Grandfather Teachings- Love, truth, humility, wisdom, courage, respect & honesty
3. Intro to spoken word
4. Write their own spoken word
5. Be invited to bridge the knowledge learned in 1 and 2 and spoken word created in 4 to write their own Land Acknowledgement

Sissy Thiessen Kootenayoo
Sissy Thiessen Kootenayoo is a Treaty 6 Nakota Sioux, Cree & German cultural facilitator, Powwow dancer, crafter/beader, spoken word poet, singer and creative writer with ancestral roots in both Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation and Steinbach, Manitoba. As the Owner & Operator of www.wasesabaexperiences.ca (Walk-Say Sah-Bah), Sissy offers various cultural performance and education services, including: Powwow dance performance and instruction, story telling, crafting, beading, Blanket Exercise facilitation, youth programming, spoken word poetry and knowledge exchange, among others.
She studied Communications & Journalism at Mount Royal University and has won various awards in the areas of community enrichment, cultural involvement and journalism. For the past 6 years, she has been living her passion of educating Albertans, Canadians & international guests of all ages on Indigenous history, issues & culture through dance, crafting, play and the written word.
