This class will explore intimacy & consent in rehearsal and performance. We’ll dive into chemistry between performers, boundaries, closure, and how the principles of intimacy direction can enhance a creative process. We will be looking primarily at the performer’s perspective, but all creative roles are welcome. Please wear clothing that allows for movement and bring a water bottle.
About Samantha Jeffery:
Samantha Jeffery is an Edmonton-based actor, fighter, and intimacy director. She is a student of Intimacy Directors International’s method: her work around intimacy includes curating the Smut Cabaret, creating the Heavy Petting Zoo, co-writing/directing Blue Revue films, and getting as much mental health training as possible. Sam graduated from the University of Alberta’s BFA Acting program, and is the co-artistic director of StoneMarrow Theatre. She is also a Sterling award-nominated fight director, and teaches and performs fights for stage & film.
Acting credits include: Slight of Mind (Theatre Yes/Citadel Theatre); Macbeth, Henry V, Twelfth Night (Malachite Theatre); Stormshelter (StoneMarrow Theatre/Workman Arts Toronto); Whiskey Business (co-created with Miranda Allen Entertainment); Dead Centre of Town (x3 with Catch the Keys Productions); After Miss Julie (Bleviss Laboratory Theatre); A Beautiful View (Precipice Productions); A Thought In Three Parts (Theatre Outré); I Am For You, The Bully Project (Concrete Theatre).
