The 2026 Expanse Festival is a journey through the spaces where people, art, and environment converge. Intersections invites audiences to encounter new perspectives, engage with artists across disciplines, and evolve alongside stories that challenge and inspire. With a lineup that spans immersive experiences, dynamic performance, and community gatherings, the festival is a celebration of connection, identity, and the transformative power of shared experience.

Body-based Stories.

The festival unfolds through two primary streams: the Mainstage Series features performance works by local, regional, national, and international artists, while the Expanse Community Outreach Program engages with the broader Edmonton community through various activities, including interactions with The Lobbyists.

Pay-What-You-Can: Supporting the Arts Together

At Azimuth Theatre, we believe art should be accessible to all, regardless of financial circumstances. That’s why all of our tickets are based on a Pay-What-You-Can model. We understand that everyone’s situation is different, so we leave it up to you to determine the value of your experience.

Suggested Ticket Price: $35
Workshops: $20

While we suggest a ticket price to help cover production costs and support our artists, we understand that this may not be feasible for everyone. Whether you can give more or less, what matters most to us is that you join us in experiencing the magic of theatre together. No matter the amount, your contribution is valued and appreciated. Your support enables us to create meaningful connections, spark important conversations, and inspire change through the power of storytelling.

Sensory Informed Performances: We will provide fidgets/ ear protection/ and various seating options to help folks succeed in a rock concert environment, but there will be no changes to the show itself.

This year’s festival’s accessibility coordinator is Carly Neis, who is collaborating with independent consultants, interpreters and audio describers to provide diverse ways of engagement and entry points to the Expanse.
