Mackenzie Baert is a circus artist with Firefly Theatre and Circus with diverse artistic and athletic skills. As a child and teenager, Mackenzie was a competitive rhythmic gymnast at the national level. During her undergraduate studies she was an athlete on the University of Alberta’s track and field varsity team, competing in the pentathlon and heptathlon events. Mackenzie also has a black belt in Taekwondo.

Mackenzie has been working with firefly theatre in various capacities for the last 9 years. While she specializes in Aerial hoop (also her favourite of the Aerial arts), Mackenzie has competence and skill in a variety of disciplines both in the air on the ground. Mackenzie likes to bring her unique combination of athletic and artistic experiences into her role as an instructor. At firefly she teaches both kids and adults a myriad of skills including but not limited to, extreme stretching, aerial skills classes, and aerial fitness and conditioning. When she isn’t performing or teaching circus, Mackenzie works as a personal trainer in Edmonton, bringing her signature blend of knowledge, experience, and dedication to assist her clients with their fitness and wellness goals.
